Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. - Romans 5:2

Early Life of Mose

Outer Aim- God’s people suffered under Pharaoh and the cruel taskmasters of Egypt

Inner Aim- God strengthens His people to do His will and wait with confidence and faith for their deliverance.

Application

Because we live in a sinful world, God’s people may suffer under cruel and Godless people. We may have nochoice but to bear the burdens placed upon us. As we pray to our gracious God we can rest assured that He willdeliver us in His own way and time. (Cf. II Tim. 3:10,11) However, regardless of our circumstances we mustalways obey God rather than man no matter how that will affect us. The Hebrew midwives would not kill themale babies that were born. They were constrained to obey God rather than man.

God saw the mistreatment of His people and planned their deliverance. Notice how God works within thecircumstances that exist. In spite of the Egyptian government, God moves people to do what is right. He entersinto the very palaces of the Egyptian government to raise up a leader for His people.

Passages

Exodus 20:13 – You shall not murder,
Acts 5:29 – We ought to obey God rather than men
Romans 8:31b – If God is for us who can be against us?
Psalm 37:5 – Commit your way to the LORD, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.
I John 3:18 – My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.

Hymns

“If Thou But Suffer God To Guide Thee” (TLH #518)
“If God Himself Be For Me” (TLH #528)
“Commit Whatever Grieves Thee” (TLH #520)
